4-6 Month Update

I spent a considerable amount of time writing our Marley's 4-6 month update; put a lot of heart and soul into it. Without avail, my internet explorer unexpectedly quit and it lost all of my work. I was very upset and to be honest, it took me a while to want to start over. But i'm at the point where I just want to type it out and be done with it. Such a bummer, always copy and paste into word, not blogger! bleh! here goes:

Our sweet sunshine, Marley, is 6 months old! I can't believe how fast the time has gone. She has been everything I would hoped she would be. Not that I prayed for a perfect child, but I kind of did after how difficult Noah was. I just prayed no matter how the temperament of the child was, to please have the child stay OUT of the doctors office and the hospital. She has been such a chill baby and just loves to be around people. Things have still been hard and plenty of sleepless nights, but she is everything I didn't realize I needed. I had been okay with the thought of having all boys, since I have always loved my little Noah, but once I held that girl in my arms I knew there was a place missing in my heart that just became more full. I love having both a boy and a girl, they bring such different things to the table. It is interesting seeing the differences in temperament alone between a boy and a girl. I'm so lucky.

We sleep trained Marley at 4 months and it was pretty rough. Noah took 3 nights and he was trained. It took us about 2 weeks to get the hang of things with Marley. She even lost her voice for a couple of days from screaming so hard. Sleep training isn't for the weak. I was SO against it for Noah until I finally caved at six months when I hadn't slept more than FOUR hours in a whole week. Believe me, I was sick, almost throwing up from fatigue. I couldn't eat. I was a walking zombie. I was so angry and cried all of the time from the lack of sleep and was desperate. When I had finally reached out to a consultant, I did a sleep plan that worked for us and didn't make me have him cry it out. I did a lot of comforting, but he did so well and adapted quite quickly. Marley    was a different story, I tried the same approach and it DID NOT WORK. She would get more angry with seeing me or Travis coming into the room, so we were consulted to just have her cry it out for a duration of time and not go in. That was a killer for us both, but after two very long and hard two weeks, she adapted. She only wakes one time at night now since she can't drop night feeding until she is 9 months, but PRAISE the heavens. Sleep training is the best. We've been in California for the past week and she just falls a asleep in the stroller on-the-go and sleeps as long as she needs (despite the noise) and doesn't need our help putting her to sleep, which she required prior to training. Anyway, i'm a big fan and that was a big chunk of her four month mark.

Some of our favorite things about Marley:

-she smiles at everything and everyone. She is truly always pretty darn happy
-she loves the baby carrier and enjoys just being around where she can look at everything
-she started solids and loves sweet potatoes, pears, and just about anything I give her
-she rolls around like a hot potato. I think we will have a crawler soon
-we took our first road trip to California and she did so well in her car seat the entire time
-she loves the jolly jumper
-she is very coordinated and can reach out and grab anything she is interested in, especially moms hair. Yikes!
-she loves to watch people eat and drink
-she loves to much on her fist and fingers
-she loves warm baths and gets really excited if we lay her in the bathtub so she can splash around
-she  recently had RSV and it broke our hearts. She still took it like a champ and hardly cried, or showed like it was affecting her. She just smiled and breathed like an 100 year old
-she gets commented on all of the time. She is the cutest baby
-she has two bottom teeth and has the cutest smile with them showing through. She has not began starting to bite me while nursing and OH MAMA. It hurts.
-she loves to smile, but rarely laughs. The only two people that have really gotten her laughing is my nephew Luke and her big baby brother, Noah. She finds them both hilarious.
-she LOVES to nurse. She has gotten spoiled on vacation with no breastmilk in a bottle since i'm not at work and won't take one now. She loves the nip and prefers it over a bottle

We love our Miss Marley to pieces. My kids just fill my heart with so much joy.
